Abstract

A significant proportion of victim-survivors of rape and sexual violence are disabled 1 . Yet, there is limited research that engages disabled people in research about the Criminal Justice System (CJS) (Thorneycroft and Asquith, 2021). This report is the first to focus specifically on the experiences of disabled women in England who have reported rape and sexual violence to the police. It makes essential reading for all those who are interested in solutions to improve engagement with victim-survivors of rape and sexual violence, including Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs), policy makers, police officers, and those who support victim-survivors through the CJS.
