Abstract
In this introduction, I wish to present an outline of the main threads of Boudon’s resolutely complex course of thought, which has greatly contributed to the development of a general and scientific sociology. As Boudon remains a relatively unknown figure in anglophone intellectual circles, I will take an approach that is somewhat biographical to contextualize this course of thought. I will then show how this book can help interested readers to both understand and apply Boudon’s many insights in the spirit of participating to his project of a building a scientific sociology.
