Abstract
The maritime industry faces unprecedented challenges resulting from climate change, epidemics, geopolitics and economic uncertainties, leading to the emergence of research on maritime transport resilience. However, key questions remain unresolved, particularly, what are the main contributions of the research community in the field of maritime transport resilience? Are the current trends of contributions focused on particular themes, geographical regions and directions? To address such , we conduct a systematic review and bibliometric analysis of the current research trend, semantic patterns and the evolution of maritime transport resilience over the last two decades, based on a collection of 735 research papers exploring various topics in maritime transport resilience featured in key scholarly journals from 1997 to 2023. The review study would encourage industrial practitioners and policymakers to make decisions and generate focused strategies to encounter maritime transport problems. Also, it would foster the maritime transport research community to improve their self-understanding, promote interdisciplinary studies via fundamental collaboration, increase the awareness of sustainable development goals (#9, 13, and 14), and explore key research gaps to be addressed.
