Abstract

Spirits Read Foucault consists in a performance-research-experiment that employs storytelling and visualization. It was carried out with different groups of participants in various Universities around the world, specifically in UK, India and South Africa. Each group was lead via a guided narrative to spectate internal occurrences, experienced as conditions of spatiality which problematized the inside/outside divide and the notion of presence as anchored in visibility. This performance/experiment provides material for reflection on both the notion of presence and space as sacred conditions of matter in its expansive layers of existence. Through visualization, narrative and the use of the internal gaze, spectators were guided by a presence that became in time an absence; a guiding voice, which offered orders of corporalities other than ordinary, fixed perception of solid materialities.
