Abstract

The vignette comes from a research project aimed at seeing what opportunities to explore mathematical ideas could naturally occur when children engage with photography in kindergarten. At the beginning of the project, children were placed in groups of four or five and asked to take pictures of what they found nice in the outdoor environment. Later they were presented with the idea of making a photobook. The children eagerly took photographs, discussed which photos they liked and why, designed their own pages of a photobook on a touch screen computer and, finally, reviewed a hard copy of the photobook. The project was implemented in one private Norwegian kindergarten with a nature and outdoor profile.
