Abstract
Theta Group is a new initiative developed by A Quiet Place (AQP) for children for whom social and emotional barriers have a detrimental impact upon their academic achievement in school. Over a six week period research found that children attending the Theta Group increased their motivation for learning in school by 26% and their achievement in Maths and English improved by 18%. Continuous tracking of children’s progress over the school year has demonstrated sustained improvements in children’s attainment, their ability to self-manage emotions and to socialise more effectively in school and at home.
