Hooper, Richard (2017) Thomian luminosity in CNC fabricated Cast Acrylic Sculpture. TBC. (Accepted for Publication)
Full text not available from this repository. (Request a copy)Abstract
Drawing on a Scholastic tradition and a Thomian aesthetic, where clarity is held to be one of three
defining characteristics of beauty, the paper will provide evidence of the suitability of cast acrylic in
applications where translucency is sought in formal sculptural propositions involving complex,
though Minimalist, non-Euclidean geometry. This paper will report on investigations into the
suitability of cast-acrylic as a sculptural medium where a CAD/CAM workflow and CNC milling is employed.
