Abstract
This article uses previously unresearched primary materials relating to Charles Wesley's two visits to Ireland in 1747 and 1748. It contains a reconstruction of his time during these visits and provides some analysis of the progress of the very earliest Methodist societies, mainly in Dublin and Cork. It contains annotated transcriptions of six of the seven documents concerned, which helps the reader to gain an overall picture of Charles Wesley's time in Ireland and the progress of the nascent Methodist movement.
